Jerry Van Chapman, Sr.
( April 30, 1940 - November 30, 2015 )
Mr. Jerry Van Chapman, Sr., age 75, of Leewood Acres, Lincolnton, died on Monday, November 30, 2015, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Chapman was born April 30, 1940, to the late Claude and Christine Chapman. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Carlos Chapman, and sister-in-law, Deitra Chapman. He worked as a truck driver for a number of years for Carolina Freight of Cherryville and Cochrane Furniture of Lincolnton. He spent over 40 years in the parts business for various automotive manufacturers and retired from Fleet-Pride of Hickory. Mr. Chapman was a dear and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Caldwell Chapman of the home; three sons, Van Chapman and wife Paula, Scott Chapman and wife Jackie, all of Lincolnton, and Ed Chapman and companion Karen Hussey, originally of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Anna Chapman and companion Kevin Strobel of Sherrills Ford, Lacie Norman and husband Kevin of Dallas, Brian Chapman and Tyler Chapman, both of Lincolnton; one great-grandchild, Holden McCraven Norman; three sisters, Sharon Mosteller and husband Larry, Pat Wilburn and husband Tommy (Pretzel), and Robin Wease and husband Glenn, all of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
