Marvin Luke Gilbert
( April 12, 1930 - December 4, 2015 )
Marvin Luke Gilbert, age 85, of 3100 West Highway 27, Lincolnton died Friday, December 4, 2015.
His funeral will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at Daniels Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Gilbert was born April 12, 1930 in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Gaston and Ila Leonhardt Gilbert. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Carpenter Gilbert; five brothers, Marshall Gilbert, Bill Gilbert, Bob Gilbert, Hal Gilbert and John Gilbert. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict and was retired as a driver with Carolina Freight. Mr. Gilbert was a charter member of Howard’s Creek Fire Department.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin Gilbert and wife, Deborah of Lincolnton and Brian Gilbert and wife, Gail of Lincolnton; one brother, Jerry Gilbert of Lincolnton; one sister, Mary Keziah of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Keson Gilbert and wife Casey, Kenda Stouff and husband Erik, Sara Cleckner and husband Chad, Marie Fox and husband Cameron and Luke Gilbert: six great-grandchildren, Eason Stouff, Sydnie Stouff, Arden Cleckner, Crew Cleckner, Greyson Gilbert and “Andy”.
