Kenneth Reid Murphy, age 79, of 3601 Gaston Webbs Chapel Road in Crouse, died on Sunday, December 13, 2015.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Burial will follow in the Webbs Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Murphy was born December 4, 1936, in Gaston County to the late John Franklin and Gladys Dellinger Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Vergie Bell Freeman Murphy, and a son Kenneth Jeffrey Murphy. He was self employed.

He is survived by a son, Michael Reid Murphy and wife Kristen of Maiden; two daughters, Sissy Haynes and husband John of Lincolnton, and Gladys Setzer and husband Sean of Dallas; five grandchildren, Johnny Murphy and wife Samantha, Hannah B. Houk, C.J. Murphy, Austin Setzer, and Gavin Haynes; and one great-granddaughter, Kinslee Murphy.
