Mable Ramsey Carpenter
( July 26, 1917 - December 15, 2015 )
Mable Ramsey Carpenter went home to our Lord on December 15, 2015.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 3pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincolnton, NC. Visitation will begin at 2pm at the church. Burial will be at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church, Crouse, NC. The family will be at the home of Marni and Scott Carpenter.

Mable was born on July 26, 1917, to Blanche Beam and Charles Forest Ramsey. During her nearly century long life, Mable touched and gladdened the lives of many, many people. She was never happier than in time spent in her beautiful gardens. Amongst her many volunteer activities she especially enjoyed being secretary of the Garden Club Council of Lincolnton, as well as the Garden Gate Club, and was a very active member of the Work and Grow Garden Club, the Mentor Book Club, Golden Agers, Home Extension, Quilting, and Circle. She won many blue ribbons and awards with her flowers and arrangements. Mable was a talented seamstress of note, and had a lifelong passion for fine clothes and fashion. Always impeccably turned out, she was noted for her beauty, poise, and fine manners. She worked for many years at Modern Electric Supply Co., a family business. Mable and her husband, Ernest, traveled the world, and especially enjoyed spending time in the mountain houses they owned over the years.

Mable was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest Common Carpenter, her sisters Vada Wiseman and Ruth Huffstetler, and her grandson Mark Allen Trapp. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis, and husband Claude; son Kenneth, and wife Vicki Willis Carpenter; and son Scott and wife Marni Suttle Carpenter. Also surviving are grandchildren Camille Trapp Timberlake, her husband Brian, and their children Alex, Ethan, and Ashlie; Chip Carpenter, Courtney Howell, her husband, Brian, and their daughter Hayden; Larkyn LeDoux and her husband David, Anna Gray Carpenter, Isaac Carpenter, and Knox Carpenter. Also surviving is her brother Grady Ramsey.

The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Lincoln County, the Brian Center, and the Levine and Dickson Hospice Facility - Southminster, of Charlotte, NC

Mable dearly loved flowers, but felt they were for the living. She expressed a desire for memorials to be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Lincoln County, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Mable wanted to be remembered by the act of planting. To her the simple act of putting a seed into the ground and watching a beautiful plant emerge was sacred. She believed the words of Sadi:  A garden is a delight to the eye, and a solace for the soul. She beautified the earth for nearly 100 years, and now how she will delight the Angels.
