Gladys Earline Koch
( May 23, 1926 - December 22, 2015 )
Gladys Earline Koch, age 89, of 4018 Harmattan Drive in Denver, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.

She will be cremated and will be inurned next to her husband and son in Vacaville, CA. A celebration of Earline’s life will be held in the spring at Denver UMC.

Mrs. Koch was born May 23, 1926, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Leslie Lee and Eva Bell Schafer Evans.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband William Charles Koch, and a son Arthur William Koch. She dutifully served during World War II in the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station, Miami, FL. Later, she worked as a teller in banking. In retirement, Earline’s passion turned to helping others through her church. She served our Lord as a Stephen Minister leading grief share sessions to help families who lost loved ones, and led adult Sunday School classes. Prayer was an important part of her daily life, and she cherished her participation in the Denver UMC prayer ministry. Her prayers gave comfort, encouragement, and strength to many who were blessed to know her. She also enjoyed activities and outings with the Golden Disciples senior adult ministry.

In her compassion for both the young and old, she volunteered in the church preschool and at Wexford House Assisted Living in Denver, NC, where she was called “Mom” by the residents.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith Brockman of Denver, and Pamela Susan McGee of Pittsburgh, PA; two sons, Russell Charles Koch of Fresno, CA, and Donald Allan Koch of Antioch, CA; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Denver United Methodist Church, 3910 Highway 16, North, Denver, NC 28037.
