Helen Friday Blackburn

Helen Friday Blackburn, age 87, of 2171 Gastonia Highway in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, December 24, 2015.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Brown and Scott Whitesides officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Blackburn was born December 22, 1928, in Gaston County, to the late Ernest William and Grace Huggins Friday. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Gene Blackburn, and a sister Frances Rhyne. She worked in textiles. Mrs. Blackburn was a longtime member of Riverview Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Blackburn of the home; a sister, Judith Friday of Lincolnton; a brother, Barry Ernest Friday and wife Sharon of Stanley; numerous nieces and nephews; and her grand-cat, Zipper.
