Steve Brendle
( October 26, 1927 - December 24, 2015 )
Steve Brendle, age 88, of Carolina Care Center in Cherryville, and formerly of 7392 Reeps Grove Church Road in Vale, died on Thursday, December 24, 2015.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Allshouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Reeps Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Brendle was born October 26, 1927, in Lincoln County, to the late Grover Voyd and Zula Propst Brendle. He worked for Lincoln County D.O.T. He also worked for several car companies, to include Hoyle Motor of Lincolnton, Everette Chevy of Hickory, Modern Chrysler/Plymouth of Newton, Carswell Motors of Lincolnton, and Town Square Ford of Lincolnton, where he retired in 2007. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Powell Brendle of the home; a son, Rustin Powell Brendle of Vale; a daughter, Lynn Yount and husband Bruce of Vale; two sisters, Camilla Daniels of Winston-Salem, and Gladys Grose of Forest City; and two grandchildren, Alison Yount of Hickory and Emily Yount of Raleigh.
Memorials may be made to Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, 7401 Reeps Grove Church Road, Vale, NC 28168.
