Mr. Melvin Ferrell Whiteside, age 83 of 1842 Holbrook Lane in Lincolnton died on Friday, January 16, 2016 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas.
Services for Mr. Whiteside will be held at a later date.
Mr. Whiteside was born on May 17, 1932 in Lincoln County to the late Julius and Edith Cornwell Whiteside. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Ward, Linda Cannon and Betty Ruth Dameron. Mr. Whiteside retired from Vermont American where he worked as a tool and dye operator. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two brothers, James C. Whiteside and wife Darlene of Iron Station, Marvin E. Whiteside and wife Janet of Iron Station; two sisters, Joyce Hoffman and husband M.F. of Long Shoals, Lou Alice Brooks and husband Wayne of Huntersville.
