Darlene Barfield Nichols

Darlene Barfield Nichols, age 73, of Pumpkin Center, died on Thursday, January 28, 2016.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2016, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Shoemate officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nichols was born March 3, 1942, in Fort Mill, SC, to the late Sam and Ethel Baldwin Barfield. She worked as an office manager for Lincolnton Manufacturing and also was a Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Nichols of the home; a son, David Christopher Nichols, and wife Stacie, of Thomasville; a daughter, Karen Nichols Cornwell, and partner Oscar Davila, of Belmont; a sister, Gay Swafford, and husband Glen, of Seneca, SC; a brother, Sam Barfield, and wife Lynn, of St. Petersburg, FL; and four grandchildren, Jack Nichols, Molly Nichols, Ella Cornwell, and Alex Cornwell.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
