Obituaries
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth “Sissy” Lineberger age 91 of Lincolnton passed away on Saturday February 6, 2016.
Funeral services will be Tuesday February 9, 2016 at 3:30pm at the First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton, with the Rev. David Wyant officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00pm until 3:30pm in the fellowship building at the church.
Mrs. Lineberger was a native of Lincoln County, born on January 22, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Coy and Ella Kendrick Stamey. Mrs. Lineberger was preceded in death by her husband John Walter Lineberger Sr., brothers Bill Stamey, and John Stamey; sisters Dot Smith, Bet McLaughen. She was a wonderful southern lady, devoted wife and grandmother, whose grandchildren and great grandchild were the light of her life. Mrs. Lineberger was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed many fun-filled excursions with the Go-Go club, loved her neighbors of many years and long-time friends, and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include: one son John W. Lineberger Jr. of Iron Station; one daughter Libba Thompson and husband Gene of Iron Station; one brother Jim Stamey of Newton ; one sister Nancy Boulware of Statesville; three grand children John Lineberger and wife Cathy, Jay Thompson and wife Kristy and Lea Thompson whose birthday she shared; one very special great grandchild Knox Lineberger.
