Mary McClure Stroupe

Mary McClure Stroupe passed away March 27, 2016, at 10:02 a.m., after an extended illness.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Alexis Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mary Katherine Brodie was born October 31, 1927, in Rossville, Georgia. Mrs. Stroupe was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at Celanese Manufacturing as a professional knitter for many years. She was preceded in death by William G. Hicks, daughter Patricia Hicks, Luther McClure, Coy Stroupe, her parents, and her five brothers.
Mary is survived by her sister, Agnes Clemons; her five children, Norma Hicks Walker, and husband Jack, David Hicks, and wife Mary, Larry Hicks, and wife Teresa, Deborah Hicks Anderson, and husband Floyd, Jeffery Hicks, and wife April; her grandchildren, Shelby and John Walker, David Hicks, Jr., and Amanda Hicks Voorhees, Connor and Taylor Hicks, Brian, Rachael, and Andrew Anderson, Hannah and Ava Hicks; and six great-grandchildren.
A special thank you to Lincoln County Hospice and to very special friends and caretakers, Cynthia Nolan, and her daughter, Linda Hawkins.
