Janet Highfill Collins

Janet Highfill Collins, age 85, of Givens Estates in Asheville, died on Saturday, April 23, 2016.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. David Wyant officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Collins was born June 1, 1930, in Bethel, NC, to the late Thomas Guthrie and Conaree Kirkpatrick Highfill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Collins, Jr, and a daughter, Lynda Collins Kelley. She taught at Lincolnton High School for 37 years. Janet served as a President of UMW and was on the Board of Directors for Givens Estate in Asheville. She also was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and was a Junaluskan.
She is survived by a son, William “Chip” Collins of Boger City; and three grandchildren, Justin Collins of Lincolnton, John Kelley of California, and Anna Kelley of Georgia.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to the United Methodist Women organization of one’s choice.
