Edith Irene Burgess McCorkle

Edith Irene Burgess McCorkle, age 96, of 2661 Union Church Road in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Saunders and Rev. Jeff Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. McCorkle was born October 4, 1919, in Lincoln County, to the late James and Nina Coleman Burgess. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McCorkle. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by two sons, Sam McCorkle and Gary McCorkle, both of Lincolnton; one daughter, Jean Shull of Maiden; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
