Mable Marie Richard Houser
( October 2, 1932 - August 17, 2016 )
Mable Marie Richard Houser, age 83 of Shoal Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Houser was born October 2, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late Maurice Alexander Richard and Annie Lee Wilson Richard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David Monroe Houser. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College and was a member of the Mu Sigma Epsilon Society. Mable taught over 25 years at Union Elementary School, in the special education program. She belonged to the Lincoln County Retired School Personnel and served as surrogate parent for the Lincoln County E.C. Program for a number of years.
She is survived by a son, Richard Houser, and wife Joyce, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Sheila H. Barnes, and husband Russ, of Florence, SC; three sisters, Margaret Reep of Hickory, Helen Rhyne of Lincolnton, and Wanda Avery, and husband Bob, of Crouse; three grandchildren, Dillon Houser, and wife Nicole, Dr. Edward Barnes, and wife Stephanie, and Dr. Logan Barnes, and wife Magoo; one great-grandson, Jackson Barnes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
