Willie Mae Jenkins Brooks
( June 17, 1933 - January 16, 2017 )
Willie Mae Jenkins Brooks, age 83, of Nelson Drive in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 16, 2017.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Chapman and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brooks was born June 17, 1933, in Gaston County, to the late Tom Daily Jenkins and Pearl Rose Crouse Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bryson Brooks; a son, Ronnie Eugene Brooks; and a brother, Albert Lee Jenkins. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by a son, Earl Gary Brooks of Lincolnton; four daughters, Willie Jean Smith, and husband Rick, Teresa Cortes, all of Lincolnton, Linda Friday, and husband Jerry, of Bessemer City, and Brenda Lingerfelt and husband Roy, of Iron Station; two sisters, Hazel Goins and Irene Fortenberry, both of Lincolnton; three brothers, Thomas “Butch” Jenkins of Lincolnton, Lynn Jenkins of Greer, SC, and Howard Jenkins of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A special thank you and God’s blessings to her grandson, Brandon Lingerfelt, for letting her live her life the way she wanted at home, and also to her son-in-law, Roy Lingerfelt, for never saying ‘no’ when it came to what she needed.
The family would also like to express special thanks to all the people at Hospice, especially mother’s nurse, Debbie Campbell, and her CNA, Lynn Killian, whom mother loved.
