Obituaries
Billy Riddle Nantz, age 81, of 414 Timber Road, Iron Station died Saturday, January 21, 2017.
His funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Macon Ballard and Rev. David Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the funeral at Sharon Baptist Church.
Mr. Nantz was born on February 25, 1935 and was the son of the late Ray and Edna Lowe Nantz. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Benji Lanier, six brothers, Melvin, Ivey Lee, Bob, Ned, Eddie Joe and Lander Nantz and two sisters, Geneva N. McGee and Betty N, Miller. Mr. Nantz was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel “Merle” Cornwell Nantz of the home; two daughters, Linda N. DeVine of Stanley and Robin Nantz of Lincolnton; one sister, Peggy Wilkinson of Iron Station; three grandchildren, Heather Frye, Jordan McCarn and Kennedy DeVine and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Frye and Callie Frye.
