Bessie Louise Newman Grigg
( April 25, 1943 - February 26, 2017 )
Bessie Louise Newman Grigg, age 73, of Mary’s Grove Church Road in Kings Mountain, died on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in the Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charlene Hutchings officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Bessie was born April 25, 1943, in Osyka, Mississippi, to the late Leslie and Effie Jean Westmoreland Newman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Levon Grigg; three brothers, Leslie Newman, Jerry Newman, and Roy Newman; and a sister, Ruby Newman. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy L. Grigg, Jr. of the home; two daughters, Leslie Grigg and Chrystal Grigg, both of the home; two step-daughters, Amy Grant of Lincolnton and Linda Grigg of Shelby; two sisters, Inez Cunningham, and husband Larry, of Lincolnton, and Barbara Newman of California; two brothers, Fleet Norman, and wife Rhonda, of Maiden, and Marcus Newman of Texas; sister-in-law, Theresa Newman of Kentwood, LA; one granddaughter, Maddison Grigg; and six step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church, 1223 Mary’s Grove Church Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086.
