Russell Lee Dellinger
( May 20, 1935 - March 11, 2017 )
Mr. Russell Lee Dellinger, age 81, of 1659 S. Highway 16, Stanley died Saturday, March 11, 2017.
His funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Living Word Ministries with Rev. Wayne Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hills Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Living Word Ministries.
Mr. Dellinger was born on May 20, 1935 and was the son of the late Chester and Nettie Dellinger. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, L. C. Dellinger and Bobby Dellinger and two sisters, Patricia Rudisill and Barbara Jean Cook. Mr. Dellinger was the President of Dellinger Exterminating for 56 years. Mr. Dellinger served on the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners for 12 years, as President of the East Lincoln Optimist Club and as Charter Chairman of the Lincoln County Democratic Party. He also served on the Lincoln County Board of Elections, Lincoln County Social Services Board and the fund raising committee of the Hills Chapel Family Life Center in Lowesville.
Mr. Dellinger is survived by his wife, Joan Riddle Dellinger of the home; one son, Jeff Lee Dellinger and wife, Tammy of Stanley; one daughter, Cindy McCandless and husband, Mike of Stanley; one brother Dariel Dellinger of Stanley; one sister, Chris Nelson of Stanley; six grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Aaron, Lindsey, Courtney and Katlyn; eleven great –grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
