Lewis Daniel "LD" Mauney

Lewis Daniel “LD” Mauney, age 86, of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at CaroMont Health in Gastonia.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Mauney was born March 15, 1931, in Lincoln County, to the late P.L. and Maude Huffstetler Mauney. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Hubert Mauney; and two sisters, Alma and Carlene Mauney. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and then later worked for Mohican Mills. Mr. Mauney was a member of Riverview Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher for 35 years, and was also a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth McSwain Mauney of the home; a son, Danny Mauney of Lincolnton; a grandson, Zachary Mauney of Lincolnton, who is serving in the Marines in Spain; a sister, Mary Lou Rash, and husband Don, of Lincolnton; and sister-in-law, Gloria Mauney of Lincolnton.
Memorials may be made to Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2230 Riverview Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
