Walter Vance Johnson

Walter Vance Johnson, age 81, of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug McClain officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with DAV military rites. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born February 26, 1936, in Lincoln County, to the late David Wright Johnson and Bonnie Rhyne Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Iler Johnson; a daughter, Becky Johnson; two sisters, Rose Lee Canipe and Evelyn Gilbert; and a brother, Paul Johnson. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a route truck driver.
He is survived by a brother, Robert “Bob” Johnson of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, or to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
