Obituaries

Opal Jones Carawan, age 95, of Lincolnton, NC died Sunday, April 30, 2017.

She was born May 16, 1921 in Beaufort County NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Theresa Jones, She was also preceded in death by her husband Larry Carawan, a baby boy, and son James Donald Carawan. Mrs. Carawan was a homemaker.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Warlick Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon in Wilmington, NC.

Survivors include; son, Larry Bryan Carawan and wife Brianda of Florida, daughter, Ann C. Macon of Kings Mtn. NC; brother, William Jones and sister Rosa J. Garner both of New Bern, NC; grandchildren, Beth Brock Dye and husband D.W., James David Brock and wife Rebecca, Kimberly Carawan, Alan Dewayne Carawan, Jennifer Welsh, Marsha Williams, and James Donald Carawan II; great grandchildren, Kimberly Dye, Charlie Dye, Briana Brock, and Aidan Brock.
