Vida Rebecca Harvey Lawing
( April 24, 1934 - June 19, 2017 )
Vida “Becky” Harvey Lawing, age 83, of Brian Center, Lincolnton and formerly of Oak Street, Lincolnton died peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2017.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rev. Amy Vaughan and Rev. Rick Sloop will officiate.
Mrs. Lawing was born April 24, 1934, in Crouse, to the late Lore Franklin and Vida Carpenter Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Euray Lawing; a brother Franklin Harvey and sisters, Louella Harvey Turner and Peggy Harvey Carswell.
After graduating from Lincolnton High School, she worked for the FBI in Washington, DC in fingerprinting before returning to Crouse to marry Euray and start a family. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Carolina First National Bank. Additionally, Becky was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse and the Lincoln County Home Extension Program. She also served as a 4-H club leader.
She is survived by daughters Robin Gail Barbour and her husband, Bob, of Durham and Lori Rebecca Montgomery and her husband Thomas of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Corey Montgomery of Hampton, VA, Emily Barbour of Clinton, Iowa and Hunter Barbour of Durham, NC.
The family will gather at the home of Thomas and Lori Montgomery at 101 Woodvale Circle, Lincolnton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 131, Crouse, NC 28033.
