John Wesley Smith, age 88, of South Ingleside Farm Road, died on Wednesday, June 28 2017
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Reverend Charles Ingle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 til 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Warlick Funeral Home.
John was born January 19, 1929, in Durham, North Carolina to the late John Edward Smith and Gertrude Bane Smith. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a retiree Duke Energy, Riverbend Steam Plant after 32 years.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Betty Martin Smith, sons Doug Wesley Smith and wife Toni, of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; Dennis Martin Smith of New York, New York; Darren Lee Smith of Stanley, North Carolina; and daughter, Diana Joy Smith of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and three loving grandchildren, Garrett Wesley Smith, Chaning, Elizabeth Smith, and Lawson Bradley Smith.
