Obituaries

John Emmit Hines, Sr., age 73, of Lincolnton died Friday July 7, 2017.

His funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Marvin United Methodist Church with Rev. Amy Vaughan officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Hines was born on June 27, 1944 and was the son of the late James Henry “Bill” Hines and Ruth Maureen Adams Hines.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Hines.  Mr. Hines retired after 31 years as a supervisor for Sonoco Products and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Aircraft Carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt and in Da Nang, Vietnam during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sain Hines of the home; one son, John E. Hines, Jr. of Lincolnton; one daughter, Andrae H. Beam of Vale; brother, Frank Hines of Lincolnton; three sisters, Pat H. Ballard and husband, Clayton of Lincolnton, Susie Martin and husband, Gary of Lincolnton and Lucy H. Houser of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Jessica Hines, Austin Hines, Caleb Hines, Brittany Beam and Justin Beam.
