Obituaries

Yates Ervin Cook, age 82, of 2703 Cobblestone Lane in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, August 3, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Fulker officiating.  The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Peggy Blevins, 605 Jess Hord Road, Trailer #6, in Cherryville.

Mr. Cook was born March 5, 1935, in Lincoln County, to the late Ambrose and Flossie Vergie Mason Cook Wilson.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, David and Bob Cook.  He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a truck driver for Glenn Short Company. 

He is survived by his wife, Clara Bivens Cook of the home; a son, David Earl Cook, and wife Susan, of Maiden; two daughters, Peggy Blevins, and husband Coleman, of Cherryville, and Faye Cook, and husband Bobby, of Shelby; three brothers, J.C. Cook, and wife Joan, of Lincolnton, William Wilson, and wife Diane, of Lincolnton, and Jack Wilson, and wife Sandra of Newton; one sister, Shirley Wilson, and husband Ron, of Valdese; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
