Eva Carol Hemphill Ringley
( December 13, 1943 - September 15, 2017 )
Mrs. Eva Carol Hemphill Ringley left us surrounded by her family to be with her Lord on Friday, September 15, 2017.
Carol was born on December 13th, 1943 and was the youngest of eight children of Lewis Grady and Mary Etta (Beck) Hemphill of Lexington, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Lewis Junior, Walter Lee and Paul Franklin Hemphill and sisters Mary Francis (Carter), Barbara Helen (Yarbrough) and Alice Faye (Woods).
In the early-1960s, Carol taught at and directed the Lexington Beauty College and later owned and operated her own beauty salon in Lexington, NC. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, spending much of her later life dedicated to the needs of her family. Carol was a talented artist as well as a published author of poetry and children’s stories. She loved to travel, enjoyed reading good books, watching good movies and especially loved playing Scrabble. She had a wonderful smile that could light up any room and a way of making you feel that you were the most special person in that room.
Carol is survived by her husband of 29 years, Don Ringley, son Rudolph Scott Lanier (and wife Victoria) of Warrenton, VA, daughter Mary Beth (and husband Dana Eugene Miller) of Charlotte, step-daughters Natalie D. Woodlief of Cherryville, NC, and Sara K. Ringley of Jonesborough, TN, grandchildren Nikki Dawn Orbison, Joshua Erin Orbison, Eva Marie Lanier, Victor Drew Lanier and Simon Ray Lanier, great grandchildren Alexia Lee Kittle and Alivia Grace Gubanez, sister Gladys Marie Jones of Houston, TX and 15 nieces and nephews.
We will receive family and friends at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 PM. Services will be on Monday at 1:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Andrew Royals and Rev Jerry Beck, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Renovation Fund, 1982 Salem Church Rd., Lincolnton, NC 28092.
