Nellie Grigg Nantz
( February 26, 1931 - September 27, 2017 )
Nellie Grigg Nantz, age 86, of 346 Amity Church Road in Iron Station, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Wheeler and Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:15 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Nellie was born on February 26, 1931, to the late Abraham Grigg and Carrie Saunders Grigg in Lincoln County. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Bobby Ray Nantz; brothers, Frank Grigg, James Grigg, Leonard Grigg, Charlie Grigg; and sisters, Flossie Whitworth and Bertha Hubbard; and a baby boy Grigg.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Nantz Reel, and husband Steve, of Iron Station; son, David Nantz, and wife Karen, of Mills River, NC; her precious grandchildren, Brittany Richard, and husband Travis, Sawyer Reel, and Harley Nantz; and her pride and joy, great-grandson, Rhett Richard. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Lorene Grigg and Ruby Grigg, and a number of loving nieces and nephews she adored.
Nellie was a life-long active member of Pearl Baptist Church where she had played the piano, organ, was custodian and church clerk. She had a way of making all those around her smile and feel welcome. She loved making people laugh and loved everyone. Nellie will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her. She also worked in textiles, and was the owner and operator of Bob's Esso and Nell & Bob's Grocery.
