Doras Preston Hartsoe, Jr.
( April 12, 1923 - October 5, 2017 )
Mr. Doras Preston “DP” Hartsoe, Jr., age 94, of Lincolnton, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael White officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hartsoe was born April 12, 1923, in Lincoln County, to the late Doras Preston Hartsoe, Sr. and Elizabeth Rhyne Hartsoe. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by six brothers. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as an anti-aircraft soldier, and then later worked as a mechanic.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Willis Hartsoe of the home; three sons, Tommy Hartsoe, and wife Dianne, Jerry Hartsoe, and wife Robin, and Don Hartsoe, and wife Crystal, all of Lincolnton; a daughter, Vickie McCoy, and husband Mike, of Taylorsville; his only sister, Mary Ward of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Stacy Bivens, Josh Hartsoe, Clint McCoy, Anna Towery, and Ashlyn Hartsoe; and five beloved great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to DP's caregiver, Robin Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Suite 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
