Obituaries

Gary Dwight Rhodes, age 61, of 513 Horseshoe Lake Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Rhodes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coral Park Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Gary was born January 9, 1956, in Lincoln County, to Arbedella Shuford Rhodes and the late Ralph Lee Rhodes.  In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Rhodes Painter, and a grandson, Ian Maddox.  He worked in textiles.

He is survived byhis wife, Wendy Beard Rhodes of the home; two daughters, Dawn Maddox of Wilmington and Stacy Johnson of Lincolnton; four brothers, Gerald Rhodes of Crouse, and Rev. Jeff Rhodes, Mike Rhodes, and Sammy Rhodes, all of Lincolnton; his mother, Arbedella Rhodes of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren, Matthew Maddox, Jayden Maddox, Garrett Maddox, Evan Johnson-Maynor, and Emilee Johnson-Maynor.
