Obituaries

Wilfred Eugene Bridges, age 83, of Life Care Center of Banner Elk, died on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Macon Ballard officiating.  The family will greet friends following the graveside service.

Mr. Bridges was born April 11, 1934, in Lincoln County, to the late J.P. and Annabelle Hager Bridges.   He served in the United States Air Force and then later worked as a truck driver. 

He is survived by his wife, Martha Wilkinson Bridges of Hickory; two brothers-in-law, Alvin Wilkinson, and wife Peggy, and Raymond Wilkinson, and wife Ann, all of Iron Station; and a nephew, James Wilkinson of Mooresville.
