Gerald Ray "Motor" Goins

Gerald Ray “Motor” Goins, age 61, of 1489 Ed Craig Road in Vale, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wise and Rev. Paul Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Gerald was born January 30, 1956, in Cleveland County, to the late John Calvin and Iva Lee Canipe Goins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Jessica Davis. He worked as a utility contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Heavner Goins of the home; a daughter, Kelsey Goins Chambers, and husband Paul, of Vale; a stepson, Rodney Davis of Hickory; five grandchildren, Aisley Chambers, Harper Chambers, Ariana Davis, Talan Lawing, and Maliyah Lawing; three brothers, Gordy Goins, and wife Libby, of Newton, Johnny Lee Goins, and wife Kelly, of Lincolnton, and Keith Goins of Lincolnton; five sisters, Rita Katz, and husband Marc, of Vale, Jane Wright, and husband Terry, of Vale, LeAnn Gilbert, and husband Jerry, of Lincolnton, Beth Hallman of Vale, and Lisa Goins of Lincolnton; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Brook Baptist Church, 7421 Flay Road, Cherryville, NC 28021.
