Obituaries

Mrs. Barbara Burris Miller, age 85, of 101 Brookside Drive, Lincolnton died Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

Her funeral will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. A private burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. 

Mrs. Miller was born on October 15, 1932 to the late Zeb Ravon and Willie Lee Sigmon Burris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Gene “Ike” Miller and her brother, Richard “Dick” Burris.  She retired from Lincoln County Public Schools as a teacher’s assistant.  Barbara was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt and friend.  She loved beauty and detail in every aspect of her life, and always saw the best in everyone.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Miller Ostrow of Lincolnton and Candy Miller Blume of Lincolnton; three brothers, Steve Burris and wife, Sandra of Lincolnton, Jerry Burris and wife, Kaye of Sherrills Ford and David Burris and wife, Pam of Holden Beach; sister-in-law, Louise Shuford; great aunt, Helen Yount and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many, many life-long friends and her precious and loyal four legged child, Preppy.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln and Lincoln Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care and love during her illness.
