James Melvin Williams

With a ready smile, a hearty laugh and a natural kindness, James Melvin Williams was open and enthusiastic with his support and love for family and friends. Melvin was fun, gregarious and magnetic, bringing joy to the lives of so many. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Melvin was born in Middletown, Ohio on April 9, 1952 to James & Dorothy (Collins) Williams, and he died peacefully on January 4, 2018 surrounded by family.
What an amazing life – proudly serving his country with a stint in Germany, effectively managing organizations in Ohio & North Carolina and highly engaged with his daughters and grandchildren. Recently retired, Melvin continued to be adventurous with his experiences, interested in expanding his know-how and excited about the successes of those close to him.
Melvin is survived by his wife Mary Edna Williams, mother Dorothy Williams and sisters Brenda Hall, Linda Robinson, Kathy Hamilton and Debbie Hendrickson as well as his daughters, Deborah Williams Fillnow (Brad) and Jacqueline Williams Gleason (Michael) and grandchildren Audrey and Weston Fillnow and Gwendolyn, Gretchen and Grace Gleason. He also had a large extended family; Jennifer Becraft (Jeff), Katie & Logan Becraft, Danielle Sand Smith (Junior), Mackenzie, Justice, Junior Lee Smith VI and Chris Parshall, Charles Parshall and Dylan Parshall. He was preceded in death by his father James Williams and his sister A. Sue Jones.
