Jean Coverston Reid
( January 19, 1924 - January 14, 2018 )
Jean Coverston Reid, age 93, passed away on January 14, 2018, at the Brian Center in Lincolnton.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 E. Main Street in Lincolnton. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will take place at a later date in Falls Church, Virginia.
Jean was born in Mansassas, Virginia, on January 19, 1924, to the late Walter L. Coverston and Florence E. Coverston. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Reid, Jr.; brothers, Wayne Coverston and Boyd Coverston; and sisters, Nelda Packer and Betty Davis.
She is survived by a son, Albert Reid, III, and wife Gayle, of Vale, NC; a daughter, Carol A. Lear, and husband Charles, of Lee’s Summit, MO; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Walter Coverston, and wife Doris, of Falls Church, VA; sister-in-law, Sarah Coverston of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, William Reid, and wife Myrtle, of Boscawen, NH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Reid family would like to thank the staff and residents at the Brian Center in Lincolnton for the care, love and friendship given to Jean.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brian Center of Lincolnton, 515 S. Generals Blvd., Lincolnton, NC 28092-3562.
