Dorothy Dean Helms Lewis

Dorothy Dean Helms Lewis, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Luke Johnson and Rev. Cole Sours officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Warlick Funeral Home. At all other times, the family will be at the home of Penny Lewis at 3543 Jeanette Drive in Iron Station.
Mrs. Lewis was born March 27, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late Carl and Bessie Long Helms. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Diane Schronce; one granddaughter, Angela Ledford; one great-grandson, Michael Stone; a brother, Hugh Franklin Helms; and three sisters, Daphine Featherstone, Jenny May Jones, and Hazel Lawing. She retired as a cook/waitress from Country Market.
She is survived by two sons, Glen Floyd, Sr., and wife Susan, and Buddy Lewis, and wife Sherry, all of Lincolnton; four daughters, Cathy Stone, and husband Ervin, of Gastonia, Caroldean McKinney, and husband Milton, of Conover, Donna Sue Owens, and husband Jr., of Boiling Springs, SC, and Penny Lewis of Iron Station; fourteen grandchildren, Alex Stone, Michael Stone, Dawn Freidt, Jason Floyd, Paul Lewis, Christy Eakes, Michael Kuhen, CJ Frady, Glen Floyd, Jr., Jessica Lawing, Keith Reynolds, James Schronce, Justin Lewis, and Katrina Prater; sixteen great-grandchildren, Zackary Bullers, Stephanie Barkley, Darian Johnson, Zachery Johnson, Tyler Eakes, Dillion Eakes, Hazel Lawing, Alexander Lawing, Emma Floyd, Claire Floyd, Ryleigh Lewis, Pacey Lewis, Jeremiah Frady, Kyle Kuhen, Kagin Kuhen, Christian and Logan; two great-great-grandchildren, Alexa Barkley and Claudia Buller; one brother, Reeves Helms of Lincolnton; two brothers-in-law, Bill Lawing and Ed Jones, both of Lincolnton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to caregivers at Catawba Regional Hospice.
