William Lee Chapman, Sr.

William Lee Chapman, Sr., age 89, of Southside Church Road in Lincolnton, died on Monday, January 22, 2018.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Tanner Mundy and Rev. Ron Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2018, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Chapman was born April 2, 1928, in Lincoln County, to the late Henry Lee and Amanda Blanche Matthews Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, William Lee Chapman, Jr.; a brother, Jack Hugh Chapman; and a sister, Gerlene C. Helms. Mr. Chapman served in the United States Navy and then later owned his own framing construction company, Wm. L. Chapman, Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marabel Maag Chapman of the home; a son, Richard Lee Chapman, and wife Teresa Maria, of California; a sister, Louise C. Pope of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
