Fred Franklin Dellinger
( October 8, 1937 - February 11, 2018 )
Fred Franklin Dellinger, age 80, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Andy Royals, Rev. Kevin Beard, and Chaplain Anita Harvin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
He was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for years. He was involved with missions and made trips to India and to Jackpot, NV. Fred worked for years at J.P. Stevens, then went into business for himself as an appliance repairman.
Mr. Dellinger was born October 8, 1937, to Archie and Ruth Stafford Dellinger. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma West Dellinger; a brother, Gene Dellinger; and two sisters, Donna Spargo and Blanche Poole.
He is survived by his wife, Ravena Cody Dellinger; daughter, Cathy D. Gates, and husband Buster; son, Terry Dellinger, and wife Donna; three grandchildren, Brad and Brett Gates and Mary Dellinger; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Steve Dellinger, Doug Dellinger, and Roy Dellinger; and sisters, Coleen Palmer, Etheleen Leatherman, Sue Peeler, and Kaye Allen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 1982 Salem Church Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092, or to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
