Howard Leonard Jenkins
( January 19, 1931 - February 21, 2018 )
Howard Leonard Jenkins, age 87, of Baldwin Lane in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018, at David Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Jenkins was born January 19, 1931, in Cleveland County, to the late Thomas and Pearl Crouse Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Messer Jenkins; a sister, Willie Brooks; and a brother, Albert Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins served in the United States Air Force from 1948 until 1968, and was a veteran of the Korean Situation. He then later worked as the director of purchasing for Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital.
He is survived by a daughter, Darlene Seagle of Lincolnton; three sons, Dale Jenkins, and wife Robin, Bruce Jenkins, and Richard Jenkins, and wife Angie, all of Lincolnton; two brothers, Lynn Jenkins of SC and Butch Jenkins of Lincolnton; two sisters, Hazel Goins and Irene Fortenberry, both of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, James Bryant, Noah Jenkins, Noelle Heddle, Justin Seagle, Tyler Jenkins, and Andrew Jenkins; and four great-grandchildren, Adrienne Bryant, Keira Bryant, Lexi Heddle and Madison Heddle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David Memorial Baptist Church, 2533 Country Club Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
