Bonnie Lee Cody Poovey

Bonnie Lee Cody Poovey, age 83, of Tin Mine Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018, at South River Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Poovey was born August 14, 1934, in Catawba County, to the late Bonnie Pressley Cody and Frances Louella Rhyne Cody. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by her husband, Claude Poovey of the home; two sons, John Carpenter, and wife Pat, and Eddie Poovey, and wife Louann, all of Lincolnton; a daughter, Paula Roberts of Lincolnton; three sisters, Hazel Rhodes of Newton, and Edith Swink and Betty Jean Cody, both of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren, John Carpenter, III, Polly Crisson, Anna Marie Gilbert, Michael Whitesides, Kyle Whitesides, Eddie Poovey and Emily Carpenter; and five great-grandchildren, Canon Whitesides, Rachel Gilbert, Lindsey Carpenter, Collyns Whitesides and Kinley Crisson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation of NC, 4819 Park Road, Suite C, Charlotte, NC 28209.
