Obituaries

Helen Scronce Proctor, age 91, of Plateau Road in Vale, died on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Plateau United Methodist Church with Rev. David McHale and Mr. Michael Proctor officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Proctor was born November 15, 1926, in Catawba County, to the late Daniel and Mary Lizzie Jarrett Scronce.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Vance C. Proctor, and a daughter, Mardell Proctor Scronce, and son-in-law, Gary Barker.  Mrs. Proctor was the oldest living lifetime member of Plateau United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Allen “Pete” Proctor, and wife Judy, of Vale, and Vance Proctor, Jr., and wife Susan, of Vale; two daughters, Kay Proctor Wright, and husband Sam, of Vale, and Gail Proctor Barker of Chapel Hill; son-in-law, Wilton Scronce of Conover; thirteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Kathy, Dawn, Lorie, Paige, Wanda and Jo.
