Louis Ezell McConnell

Louis Ezell McConnell, age 78, of Williams Street in Lincolnton died on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Bigham and Rev. Robert Redding officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Boger City Baptist Church  

Mr. McConnell was born September 22, 1939, in Lincoln County, to the late Ezell and Mattie McAlister McConnell.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Todd McConnell; brother, Grady McConnell; and two sisters, Laura Grice and Frances McConnell.  He was the owner/operator of McConnell’s Automotive.  Louis was a lifelong member of Boger City Baptist Church where he served as chairman of deacons, Sunday School director, chairman of the finance committee, chairman of the nominating committee, member of the historical committee and member of the choir. He also served on the Boger City Board of Sanitations, was chairman of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners, was a member of the Lincoln County zoning/planning board, served as treasurer of the Board of Directors at Boger City Fire Department, and was a lifelong member of the Republican party.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Moore McConnell of the home; a daughter, Julie Spake of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Lauren Putnam, and husband Bradley, Andrea Dellinger, and husband Brandon, and Brent McConnell, and wife Katie; six great-grandchildren, Kirsten Putnam, Braylon Peach, Kamryn Putnam, Karsyn McConnell, Colt Dellinger, and Charlee McConnell; daughter-in-law, Darlene McConnell; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Dellinger and Linda Moore.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boger City Baptist Church Building Fund, 2201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
