Nellie Emogene Laney Tyson

Nellie Emogene Laney Tyson, age 90, of Asbury Health and Rehabilitation – Aldersgate, and formerly of Huntersville, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at Denver United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Autrey and Rev. Anita Sain officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. in the old sanctuary of Denver United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Tyson was born September 2, 1927, in Chesterfield County, SC, to the late Curtis Washington Laney and Martha Ella Pigg Laney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Elijah James Tyson; two brothers; and two sisters. Mrs. Tyson worked as a registered nurse.
She is survived by a son, James David Tyson, and wife June, of Mooresville; two daughters, Janet Tyson Hutchison, and husband Mike, of Weddington, and Beth Ann Tyson Packard, and husband Arthur, of Cornelius; and four grandchildren, Eli James Tyson of Huntersville, Emmalyn Victoria Tyson of Raleigh, Carley Noelle Packard of Charleston, SC, and Olivia Holland Packard of Chapel Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Denver United Methodist Church, PO Box 661, Denver, NC 28037, or to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, PO Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247.
