Clarence Vernon Hord, Jr.

Clarence Vernon Hord, Jr., age 77, of Dallas, died on Friday, April 20, 2018.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018, at David Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Futrell and Rev. David Poteat officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Warlick Funeral Home. At all other times, the family will be at 1926 Highway 73 in Iron Station.
Mr. Hord was born November 4, 1940, in Gaston County, to the late Clarence V. Hord, Sr. and Gladys Crawford Hord. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Deaton Hord; two sisters, Mary Louise Friday and Agnes Irene Poteat; and two brothers, John Richard Hord and George Howard Hord. He served in the United States Army and worked for the United States Postal Service.
He is survived by a son, Vernon Ray Hord, and wife Carla, of Dallas; a daughter Chrystal Hord Hoyle, and husband Jonathan, of Iron Station; a sister, Sharon Isaacks, and husband John, of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Brandon Hord, Wes Hord, Brooklyn Hoyle, and Ballard Hoyle; and two great-grandchildren, Emmaline Hord and Carleigh Hord.
