Obituaries

Alene Houser Jones, age 82, of Denver, NC died Sunday, May 20, 2018.

Mrs. Jones was born on June 18, 1935 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late D.C. and Alice Houser.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Jones.

She is survived by her son, Marcus Jones of the home; one sister, Peggy Houser Day of Gastonia; brother-in-law, Bob Jones and wife, Maxine of Newton; sister-in-law, Jeanette Jones of Newton; special nephews, Brantley Smith of Newton, Colyn Tourtellotte of Belmont; numerous other nieces and nephews and a special niece, Kandy.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Denver with Rev. Tony Matthews and Rev. Jim Tate officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
