Pudge Cornwell

Pudge Cornwell, age 70, of Crouse School Road in Crouse, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pudge was born March 28, 1948, in Lincoln County, to the late William Lloyd (Pete) and Sarah Avis Heavner Cornwell. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War, and later worked as a license examiner for the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. Pudge was a loyal and proud supporter of the Democratic Party.
He is survived by a son, Cale Cornwell, and wife Deana, of Vale; three grandchildren, Caleb Cornwell, Rachel Palmer, and Davis Palmer; his twin brother, Ronnie Cornwell, and wife Candi, of Lincolnton, and brother, Mickey Cornwell of Charlotte; a sister, Sally Cornwell of Oak Island, NC; and two nieces, Suzanne C. Turner and Shannon C. Austin.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested instead, memorials be made to Crouse United Methodist Church, PO Box 43, Crouse, NC 28033, or to Lincoln County Special Olympics, c/o Celeste Frazier, 1685 Hines Circle, Stanley, NC 28164.
