Obituaries

Mary Poovey McGinnis, age 76, of Farm Gate Circle in Dallas, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at South River Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Small and Rev. Tim Small officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home.  

Mrs. McGinnis was born August 14, 1941 in Lincoln County, to the late Floyd and Mary Ellen Allran Poovey.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Pless McGinnis.  Mrs. McGinnis was the owner and operator of Mary’s Fashions before retiring.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Darrell McGinnis and wife Candace of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Lisa McGinnis and husband Scott Stiles of Dallas; two brothers, Claude Poovey and David Poovey and wife Linda all of Lincolnton; one sister, Anne Welch of Charlotte; one granddaughter, Taylor McGinnis of Knoxville, TN; and loving companion, J.D. Hensley of Dallas.
