Katherine Jane Hauss "Pete" Canipe

Katherine Jane Hauss “Pete” Canipe, age 86, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. She was known as “Peachy” by loved ones and her many friends in the community. Even in illness, she had a bright smile and never failed to thank everyone who helped her in times of need.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Reeps Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Fulker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 13, 2018, from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Canipe was born July 11, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late Hugh Avery Hauss and Mittie Hoyle Hauss. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Beatrice Elaine Hoyle, and sister, Patricia Ann Lackey. “Pete” was an avid sportswoman, but never bragged of her abilities and many accomplishments. She was a hard worker as evidenced by 13 years of service at Southern Bell as a switchboard operator, and over 39 years with Harris-Teeter in the produce department. Her quiet demeanor was an example to all, and her actions of love and kindness to family and friends was her Christian example.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Matthew Canipe of the home; a sister, Betty Jo Hauss of Lincolnton; nephews, Mark Lackey, and wife Heather, Les Canipe, and wife Pam, and Marc Canipe; niece, Billye Roland, and husband Brent; brothers-in-law, Roy Hoyle and Kermit Lackey; and many great-nieces and nephews who adored her.
Memorials may be made to Reeps Grove United Methodist Church, 7401 Reeps Grove Church Road, Vale NC 28168.
