Pansy was born June 23, 1930 in Lincoln County to the late Adolphus Albert Franklin and Mamie White Scronce. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fred L. Speagle, four brothers, Ralph Scronce, Richard H. Scronce, Wayne “Pete” Scronce and her sister, Ruth S. Hoover. Pansy traveled to numerous places with her husband Fred, as he served over 22 years in the Air Force, which he and Pansy were very proud of. After leaving the service and coming home, she worked at Vermont-American for many years. She loved to be outdoors working in the yard, garden, growing gourds and sitting on the front porch waving at all who passed.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Frankie L. Scronce and Faye S. Hoke. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thanks goes to her “Special Angels”, as she called them, for the loving care she received while being able to stay at home, which was her greatest desire. They are Lisa Navey, Robin Ledford, Maria Navey, Brittany Hull and Jane Werth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Daniels Lutheran Church, 3170 Reepsville Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
