Howard Wayne Sloop, Sr.

Howard Wayne Sloop, Sr., age 77, of Apex Drive in Maiden, died on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Warlick Funeral Home. A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Howard was born August 26, 1941, in Cabarrus County, to the late Lynn Mitchell Sloop and Margaret Lucille Phillips Sloop. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Stallings Sloop; a brother Kenneth Sloop; and a sister, Mildred Sloop McManus. Howard served in the United States Navy and then worked as the operations manager for Ward Trucking.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherine Cloer, and husband John, of Memphis, TN; a son, Howard Wayne Sloop, Jr., and wife Laurie, of Maiden; two sisters, Sara Sloop Childers of Kannapolis, and Mary Edna Sloop Boyles of Orlando, FL; and two granddaughters, Druanna Sloop and Freya Sloop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bandys Crossroads Fire Department, 1611 Buffalo Shoals Road, Catawba, NC 28609.
