David Ray Kight
( February 6, 1954 - June 13, 2019 )
David Ray Kight, 65, son of Ray Emerson Kight Jr. and Mary Ann Garrett Kight, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2019.
David is survived by his father, Ray Emerson Kight Jr, brother, Todd Emerson Kight (Karen), his wife, Jennifer King Kight, his children Matthew David Kight (Tara) and Jaime Dellyn Welch (Jason).
He earned the name Papa when he became a grandfather to his two grandchildren, Emerson Ann Welch and Carter Franklin Welch. David leaves behind a group of lifelong friends that are more like family. He cherished all time spent with family and friends.
David was born in Rome, Georgia where his love of the Georgia Bulldogs began. He loved adventure and was an avid boater throughout his life and settled in Denver, NC close to water. On any given Saturday in the fall, he would be barking for the Bulldogs and loved any reason for family and friends to get together.
He will be greatly missed and remembered. He will forever be known as a man with a huge heart who put his family and friends first.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 3PM on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at Denver United Methodist Church, 3910 NC 16, Denver, NC 28037. The family will receive visitors from 2PM to 2:45PM prior to the Celebration at Denver United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Denver United Methodist Church.
